A Bibliophile and Her Bucket List

Posted on August 21, 2016January 24, 2019 by Onyinye Olufunmi N

When people ask me what I do for fun, I always list reading. Keep in mind that the others do not exceed five and they are seemingly boring things. I love books or should I say storytelling. I have been reading as far back as I can remember and I have been writing stories since 7 (a story for another day).

One of the joys of travelling to Enugu for my secondary school, was Abacha. Boarding students were not allowed outside the gate, so my friends and I would give our day classmates money to get abacha from the woman who sold outside the school gate. With our eager faces pressed to the gate, we shouted to our saviours things like “Canda 50 naira!”, ” I want mmiri abacha”, “Tell her to more onions o!”. Such is the power abacha holds. However, we purged after eating it that I was forced to create a recipe that makes a delicious abacha without potash, which is meant to hold the oil to the abacha seamlessly. . #LinkInBio . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #Abacha #AfricanFood #AfricanBlogger #africanfoodblogger #Nigerian #NigerianFood #uniquefood #LocalFood #Foodgram #foodpornography #Igbo #IgboFood #enugu #Nigeria #jordynwoods #nigerianfoodblogger #nativefoods #cassava #fish #tilapia #aubergine #eggplant

How to make "Akara" with okpa (Bambara Nut Fritters) ------- This is similar to making the conventional Akara (Beans fritters), except you are using okpa flour instead of bean flour. 1. Mix the okpa flour with water, diced onions and scotch bonnet peppers. The mixture should be a bit watery than how bean fritters mixture is supposed to be. . 2. Heat your preferred oil (I like using organic palm oil or groundnut oil from @ajimi1) . 3. Scoop a spoonful of the mixture and pour into the heating oil, when you pour, make sure you pour in a spot. . 4. Flip and remove once it fries. . 5. Drain the excess oil and serve. I ate mine with oats and pawpaw. 😉 . 6. If you love this unique recipe, kindly check out my blog OnyinyeOlufunmi.com (#LinkInBio) for more. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #Oats #Oatmeal #Pawpaw #Breakfast #bambara #fritters #Beans #InstaFood #BlackBlogger #foodblogger #food #Breakfast #Blogger #Lifestyle #AfricanBlogger #HealthyFood #Igbo #IgboFood #igbowedding #okpa #nigerianfood #AfricanFood #africanfoodblogger #instarecipe #foodreview #foodrecipes #FoodBlogFeed #nut

No one got it right🤗. Today's post is about balance, in all aspects of life balance is necessary. This post teaches how you can create a balance between loving food and not letting it affect your health (or weight). One of the questions I'm frequently asked is - how can I love food and not be "fat"? #LinkInBio . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #Balance #Weightloss #Fruits #strawberries🍓 #blueberries #Pineapple #Pawpaw #Bananas #leaf #orange #fruitsalad #weightloss #eatingdisorderrecovery #eatingdisorder #Minimalism #awareness #wholesome #mindfulness #holistichealth #vegan #vegetarianrecipes #Fruitgram #weightgain #weightlossjourney #foodblogfeed #foodblog
It was one of those days, I wanted to be the neighbourhood girl. My braids were old, I was wearing a loose fitting gown with black pantyhose. I was standing eating ice cream as I waited for my movie ticket. Then I saw him, the former love of my life, as he walked towards me. I quickly dived into my bag to get my sunglasses. As I wore them and looked up, he was standing in front of me. . More ⏬ https://onyinyeolufunmi.com/2019/01/24/breakaway/ or #LinkInBio . When I was little, I wrote, drew and designed the cover page of my books. It only seems natural to continue that. I took this picture for Breakaway. I'll love to hear your thoughts. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #Break #Breakaway #blackandwhitephotography #blackandwhite #Fiction #Shortstory #writersofinstagram #writersofig #Prose #Cinema #firstkiss #firstlove #writingblog #blackwriters #femalewriter #potd #Braids #blacklove #Sweden #Nigeria #queenscollege #Lagos #Icecream #Sunglasses
